Weekly update- From 14th Sept
Gemma Halliday, from Striders of Croydon, ran well in the Centurion Chiltern Wonderland 50-mile race on Saturday, starting and finishing at Goring-on-Thames. She was the fourteenth woman to finish, placing 89th overall out of 201 finishers (10:24:30).
In the Veterans AC 10000 metre championships, at Tooting on Wednesday, Graeme Drysdale was fourth in the M55 age-group (39:08.07), while Peter Johnson was third in the M60 age-group
(42:54.70). In the Civil Service Sports Council 10K, at Hyde Park on the same day, Tom Gillespie placed first in the M55 age-group and 12th overall out of 130 finishers (39:26). Matthew Bollington was 39th
(45:51) and Steve Smith 52nd (48:39). In the RunThrough Reigate 10K on Sunday, Stephen Harris placed first in the M55 age-group and 23rd overall out of 942 finishers (41:40).
In the Sri Chinmoy 5K, at Battersea Park on Tuesday, Niamh Vincent was the 42nd woman to finish, placing 211th overall out of 293 finishers (20:40). Maria Gabriel was third in the W60 age-group and 273rd overall (25:46). For Striders’ men, Erik Schrijnemaekers was 135th (18:52), Tom Gillespie 149th (19:05), Josef Freedman 184th (19:42), Tim Lawlor 197th (20:03) and John O’Mahony 206th (20:27).
On Saturday, Maryna Sedin was the first woman to finish the St Helens parkrun, placing 15th overall out of 354 finishers (21:16). Phil Coales placed second out of 248 finishers in the Thames Path parkrun in Woolwich (17:43). Greg Kirby placed second out of 245 finishers in the South Norwood parkrun (19:12). Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 23rd overall out of 198 finishers (22:25). Striders totalled 120 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
Some of our Striders, took on the 2 mile swim at the Swim Serpentine on Saturday, Mark Harman was placed 128th place(00:59:56), Erik Schrijnemaekers was place 912th (01:21:16), James Harrison came 1003rd place (01:23:35), Mike Smaldon came in at 1246th place (01:31:08) and Alex Legge came in 1339th place(01:48:21)
In the Lloyd junior parkrun on Sunday, Caleb Macenhill ran well to place first out of 144 finishers (8:25).
