• Iain and Cara rise up club rankings with speedy London Marathon runs

    Iain Harrison, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place 218th in Sunday’s London Marathon. His time of 2 hours 41 minutes 42 seconds was a new personal best, and lifts him to third place in Striders’ all-time club rankings.
    Krzysztof Klidzia also ran very well to set a personal best 2 hours 46 minutes 31, lifting him to sixth place in Striders’ all-time club rankings. He was followed by Dan Jewell who ran a personal best 2 hours 59 minutes 36, and Damian Macenhill who ran 3 hours 12 minutes 04.
    Striders’ women were led by Cara Kayum, who ran a personal best of 3 hours 16 minutes 00, lifting her to third place in Striders’ all-time women’s rankings. Karen Stretch ran 3 hours 35 minutes 49 seconds, placing her 14th in Striders’ all-time women’s rankings. Club colleagues Tina Macenhill (3.57.37) and Elanor Lim (3.59.16) also ran well to finish in under four hours.
    Striders’ oldest finisher was Sue Atkinson who set a new club over-65 women’s record of 4 hours 43 minutes 32 seconds.
    Striders had a total of 24 finishers. Their other runners comprised Liam Redmond (3.18.43), Darren Jackson (3.21.21), Marco Webb-Butler (3.43.39), Kevin Hann (3.49.56), Tom Gillespie (4.00.00), Phil Mazur (4.20.43), Darren Bird (4.23.08), Robbie Lashley (4.26.17), Brenhan Heath (4.45.15), Bernadette Winsborrow (4.56.52), Paula Irving (4.57.20), Kelly Duncan (5.01.33), Isabelle Kita (5.19.36), Sarah Cobb (5.35.25) and Julie Jordan (5.45.48).
    Zoe Williams was the first woman to finish in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday morning, recording 24 minutes 33 seconds. For Striders’ men, Ernie Hann was second (19.34) and Greg Williams third (20.14). Striders had a total of 27 finishers in the various local parkruns.
