Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the English National Cross-Country Championships, at Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday. Their men’s team placed 108th out of the 132 clubs which fielded complete teams of six. The eighth annual ‘mob match’ between Croydon Harriers and Striders of Croydon took place on Saturday morning, in conjunction with the South Norwood parkrun. Croydon Harriers packed very strongly at the front at the field, and had the first four finishers. Peter Chambers finished well ahead in 16 minutes 24, with Phil Symonds second (17:17).
