800m to marathons successes!
James Rhodes, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Lee Valley Middle Distance Open Meeting on Wednesday. He won his heat of the 800 metres, leading from start to finish and recording 2 minutes 07.33.
On Sunday James Bennett ran well to finish the Seville Marathon in 2 hours 37 minutes 08, placing 295th in a very large field. In the Richmond Half-Marathon, Tatsuya Okamoto was fifth overall out of 464 finishers, and first in the over-40 category, recording 82 minutes 59.
In the Tunbridge Wells Half-Marathon, Chris Green ran 1 hour 52 minutes 12, and was followed by Maryna Sedin (1:52:34) and Grace Rehman (1:56:19).
On Saturday morning Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 18th overall (22:37). Ellyw Evans was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 19th overall (22:44). Troy Russell was third out of 212 finishers in the Dartford parkrun (19:29). Cindy Siu was the third woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 49th overall (25:19). There were fourth places for Erik Schrijnemaekers in the Bromley parkrun (17:51) and Marc Burrows in the Roundshaw parkrun (20:57). Striders’ fastest time of the day came from Andrew Aitken who was 17th in the Dulwich parkrun (17:03). Striders had a total of 98 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
