• Striders perform very well at parkrun

    Amanda Hewett, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well in the annual Holly Run six-mile cross-country race, held at Reigate on Sunday. She was the sixth woman to finish, completing the hilly course in 51 minutes 29 seconds. Club colleague Krzysztof Klidzia placed 52nd in the senior men’s race, recording 50 minutes 11.

    Striders had the first two finishers in the Riddlesdown parkrun on Saturday, with Martin Filer taking first place in 19 minutes 27 and Robert Lines placing second (19:51). On the same day, Simon Ambrosi was first in the Roundshaw parkrun (19:47). Striders had the first two women to finish the Lloyd parkrun, with Rachel Lindley placing 13th overall (21:35) and Jemma Zakariyyau placing 16th (22:59). Striders also had the first two women to finish the South Norwood parkrun, with Niamh Vincent placing 14th overall (23:10) and Kara Boaks placing 16th (23:25). Jennifer Gutteridge was the second woman to finish the Crystal Palace parkrun, placing 28th overall (21:47). Krzysztof Klidzia was third at the Folkestone parkrun (18:36), while Samuel Hansen was third at the Leazes parkrun in Newcastle (18:52). Striders had an impressive total of exactly 100 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.

    This Saturday (21st) Striders will be competing in the South of the Thames Cross-Country Championships, on their home course in Lloyd Park.
