Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the Priory Relays at Reigate on Saturday. Their A team were 24th, while their B team was 33rd out of the 44 teams to finish. For Striders’ A team, Darren Woods ran the first leg of the undulating 2.5 mile course in 18 minutes 10 seconds, and was followed by veteran Krzysztof Klidzia, who recorded 16 minutes 29, which was Striders’ fastest time of the day. Barry White (17.02) and Simon Pannell (17.33) completed the team. Striders’ B team comprised Paul Stanford (18.55), Darren Over (18.47), Sam O’Dongo (17.57) and Mick Turner (18.37).
Earlier in the day, Simone Luciani had been the first man home at the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park (18.13) with club colleague Lee Flanagan third (19.07). Becky Laurence was the second woman at the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 16th overall (22.29). Striders had a total of 57 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (34 at Lloyd Park and 23 at other venues).
