• Surrey Road League

    Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place first in the M60 age-group in the Valentines 10K at Chessington on Sunday, which was the first race in this year’s Surrey Road League. He placed 80th overall out of 397 finishers (38:58). Striders were led by Phil Coales who placed 25th (35:30), while Marc Burrows was 54th (37:26).

    In the Barcelona Half-Marathon on the same day, Anna O’Sullivan ran well to record a personal best 1:33:53, lifting her to 14th place in Striders’ all-time women’s rankings. She was followed by Grace Champion (1:37:25), Michael Smaldon (1:39:38), Yasmin Anderson (1:53:31), Emma-Jane Humphreys (1:56:13), Irene Josa i Cullere (2:07:18), Jo Riches (2:16:34) and Nicky Thompson (2:19:47).

    In the RunUK Half-Marathon at Battersea Park, Peter Johnson placed first in the M60 age-group and 40th overall out of 323 finishers (1:33:01). Darren Woods was 83rd (1:42:08), while Alex Legge was the twelfth woman to finish, placing 96th overall (1:44:17). In the Hampton Court Half-Marathon, Matthew Bollington ran 1:43:05. In the London Winter Run 10K, Erik Schrijnemaekers ran 38:29, followed by Mark Stanford (54:39), Kathleen Groves (57:32), Moira O’Driscoll (67:24), Naomi Passley (75:44) and Stephen Tyler (1:28:36). 

    On Saturday morning, Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the Ardgillan parkrun in County Dublin, placing eighth overall out of 126 finishers (22:05). Alex Legge was the first woman to finish the Zalew Zyrardowski parkrun in Poland, placing sixth overall (25:08). Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 25th overall (26:35). Striders had a total of 104 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.

    On Sunday, Zoe Siu was the first female finisher in the Lloyd junior parkrun, placing second overall out of 64 finishers (8:46).
