Surrey Masters Cross-Country Championships
Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to finish third in the M60 age-group in the Surrey Masters Cross-Country Championships at Nonsuch Park on Saturday. He completed the nine-kilometre course in 36 minutes 35. Club colleague David Hoben was ninth in the M70 age-group, completing the six-kilometre course in 41:49. Liam Redmond was 17th in the M45 age-group, completing the nine-kilometre course in 37:34, while Stephen Siu was 15th in the M40 age-group (44:36).
Earlier on Saturday, Daniel Finch placed first out of 120 finishers in the Thoulstone parkrun in Wiltshire (19:54), while his younger brother Thomas Finch placed third (20:25). Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 12th overall out of 220 finishers (21:48). Phil Coales placed second out of 466 finishers in the Hackney Marshes parkrun (17:24). Robert Lines was third out of 252 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (20:21), with Simon Ambrosi close behind in fourth place (20:28). Striders had a total of 100 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Valencia Marathon on Sunday, Erik Schrijnemaekers ran well to finish in 1:24:52. He was followed by John O’Neill (1:56:06), Maili Singh (2:10:33) and Pandie Bronsdon (2:19:42). Closer to home, Darren Woods placed 45th out of 700 finishers in the Duxford Dash 10K in Cambridgeshire (44:37).
In the Great South Run, on a 10-mile course starting and finishing in Portsmouth, Daniel Bush ran 77:22, and was followed by Andy Burrell (80:55) and Mark Stanford (91:34). In the Cabbage Patch 10-mile road race, starting and finishing in Twickenham, Tim Jones finished in 90:22. In the London Aquathlon, at the Olympic Park in Stratford, Natalie Ballarin finished fourth in the W50 age-group (38:33).
