• Surrey Masters Championships

    Striders of Croydon had a successful day in the Surrey Masters Championships at Kingsmeadow on Sunday, with five of their athletes winning gold medals. Steve Corfield led the way, winning gold in both the M60 800 metres (2:18.81) and the M60 400 metres (61.12). There were also gold medals for Consuelo Kennefick in the W50 5000 metres (21:29.43), Vanessa Wheeler in the W60 800 metres (3:40.11), Lorraine Hunte in the W70 100 metres (17:51) and Alan Dolton in the M65 800 metres (4:04.32). Natalie Ballarin won silver in both the W50 discus (18.44) and the W50 1500 metres (7:18.06), while Sarah Allport won bronze in the W50 1500 metres (8:38.64).

    On Saturday morning, Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 17th overall out of 223 finishers (21:25). Zoe Siu was the first female finisher in the Lloyd parkrun, placing 43rd overall out of 280 finishers in a personal best 23:53. Her mother Cindy Siu was the second female finisher, placing 53rd overall (24:27). Phil Coales was third out of 439 finishers in the Hackney Marshes parkrun (17:08). Striders had a total of 123 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Also on Saturday, Yasmin Anderson was tenth in the W45 age-group in the RunThrough Olympic Park 10K at Stratford (67:10).
