• Surrey Cross-Country League

    Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in their final Surrey Cross-Country League matches of the season, at Lloyd Park on Saturday afternoon. Their women did very well to field 14 runners, and finish sixth out of 15 clubs in their Division Two match. They were led by Ally Whitlock, who placed 15th out of the 145 finishers, completing the muddy five-mile course in 38:01. Niamh Vincent was 17th (38:18), Rachel Lindley 20th (38:29), Fiona Carr 73rd (45:13) and Cindy Siu completed the A team in 74th (45:16). They placed eleventh in the final Division Two table. 

    The women’s B team placed fourth in their category. Selena Wong was 87th (46:07), Debra Bourne 89th (46:12), Stephanie Hunter 99th (48:17), Linda Jones 104th (49:38), Consuelo Kennefick 108th (50:21), Radhika Lingham 133rd (55:47), Maria Gabriel 134th (56:08), Emese Ban 136th (57:15) and Jadwiga Brzask-Makiela 140th (58:53).

    Striders’ men placed fourth out of ten clubs in their Division Three match, which placed them third in the final Division Three table. They were led by James Rhodes who placed eleventh out of the 169 finishers (32:01). Phil Coales was 17th (32:28), James Bennett 32nd (33:41), Conor O’Hara-Barrett 40th (34:38) and Paul Thomas 49th (35:11). Steve Corfield was first in the M60 age-group and 50th overall (35:13). Liam Redmond was 57th (35:41), Krzysztof Klidzia 60th (35:53), Robert Lines 65th (36:17) and Kerim Suruliz completed the A team in 66th (36:19). 

    The men’s B team placed third in their category. Martin Filer was 76th (37:01), Josef Freedman 77th (37:03), Tom Gillespie 78th (37:12), Erik Schrijnemaekers 95th (38:30), John O’Mahony 110th (40:21), Darren Woods 118th (40:58), Matthew Bollington 127th (41:56), Kechong Nguyen 131st (42:56) and Sam Ban 143rd (43:25).
