• Striders women at parkrun

    Striders of Croydon had the first female finisher in three different parkruns on Saturday morning. Martha Taylor was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing ninth overall out of 213 finishers (20:45). Ally Whitlock was the first woman to finish the Downsview parkrun near Toronto in Canada, placing 15th overall out of 123 finishers (21:50).  Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 16th overall out of 168 finishers (23:20). For Striders’ men, Nathan Robertshaw placed second out of 243 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (19:11). Striders’ fastest time of the day came from Phil Coales, who placed 12th out of 782 finishers at the Burgess parkrun in Camberwell (17:25). Striders had a total of 101 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.

    Also on Saturday, Yasmin Anderson placed fifth in the W45 age-group, and 142nd overall out of 327 finishers, in the RunThrough Olympic Park 10K at Stratford (54:18). On Sunday, John Stokes-Whittaker completed the Reigate 10K in a personal best 44:09.

    On Thursday, James Rhodes placed 12th in an 800 metres race at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium (2:11.01). The winner, former Japanese champion Masato Yokota, ran 1:55.
