• South of the Thames Cross-Country

    Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the South of the Thames Cross-Country Association’s annual inter-club five-mile race, held at Lloyd Park on Saturday. Their men did well to place eighth in the eight-to-score team event for the Brent Shield. They were led by James Rhodes who placed 39th (31:33). Nathan Robertshaw was 46th (32:03), Lee Flanagan 51st (32:15), Tom Gillespie 62nd (33:59), Kerim Suruliz 68th (34:42), Erik Schrijnemaekers 70th (34:49), Stephen Harris 86th (36:55) and Stephen Siu completed the scoring team in 110th (40:39). Jon Dean was 120th (41:28), Mark Harman 123rd (42:06) and Keith Simpson 131st (51:31).

    Earlier in the day, Striders had a total of 97 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Phil Coales was first out of 328 finishers in the Osterley parkrun (17:28). Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish the Vermuyden Way parkrun in north Lincolnshire, placing fifth overall out of 62 finishers (21:30). Martha Taylor was the first woman to finish the St Albans parkrun, placing ninth overall out of 278 finishers (20:35). Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 15th overall out of 121 finishers (23:29). Graeme Drysdale was second out of 79 finishers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (20:56). Steve Corfield was third out of 149 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (20:47), while Cindy Siu was the third woman to finish, placing 25th overall (25:41). Justin Macenhill was third out of 98 finishers in the Dartford Heath parkrun (21:37). On Sunday, Zoe Siu was third out of 64 finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun (8:52).

    In the RunThrough Fulham 10K, Steve Massey placed sixth in the M55 age-group (43:42). He was followed by Mark Stanford (53:16), Yasmin Anderson (54:07) and Michael Joseph (54:47).
