Serpentine five-kilometre road race
Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place first in the M60 age-group, and 31st overall out of 201 finishers, in the Serpentine five-kilometre road race at Hyde Park on Friday. He recorded 18 minutes 28. Liam Redmond was 34th (18:43) while Darren Woods was 92nd (21:13).
On Saturday morning, Striders had a total of 108 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Marc Burrows placed second out of 207 finishers in the Somerdale Pavilion parkrun at Keynsham in Somerset (18:39). Martha Taylor was the second woman to finish the Charlton parkrun, placing seventh overall out of 203 finishers (20:26). Martin Filer was third out of 142 finishers in the Riddlesdown parkrun (20:20), where Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish, placing 22nd overall (24:07). Tom Gillespie was fourth out of 225 finishers in the South Norwood parkrun (20:33). Striders’ fastest time of the day came from Nathan Robertshaw, who was 13th out of 847 finishers in the Bromley parkrun (17:28).
On Sunday morning, Striders had the first two finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun, with Zoe Siu placing first out of 58 finishers (8:52) and Daniel Williams second (8:57).
