Rosenheim League Final
Debra Bourne, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to complete the 215-mile Race Across Scotland, from Portpatrick to Cockburnspath. She was the 22nd female finisher, recording 97 hours 06 minutes 32.
Striders’ women faced strong opposition in the annual Rosenheim League Final, held at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday. Their best placing came from Sarah Allport who was sixth in the 1500 metres (8:54.03). Two of Striders’ oldest competitors showed their versatility by competing in three different events. Sandra Francis was seventh in the long jump (2.50) and eighth in both the 100 metres (19.5) and the discus (9.35). Vanessa Wheeler was eighth in the 400 metres (1:41.0), 800 metres (3:43.58) and shot (4.25). The team placed eighth.
In the England Masters Inter-Area Challenge, at York on Sunday, Steve Corfield placed fourth in the M60 800 metres (2:22.67) and sixth in the M60 400 metres (61.57).
On Saturday morning, Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 23rd overall out of 207 finishers (22:44). Niamh Vincent was the second woman to finish the Torbay Velopark parkrun, placing 42nd overall out of 482 finishers (20:48). Marc Burrows was third out of 302 finishers in the Wanstead Flats parkrun (18:05), while Nathan Robertshaw was third out of 261 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (19:27). Striders’ fastest time of the day came from Erik Schrijnemaekers who was 13th out of 683 finishers in the Bromley parkrun (17:56). Striders had a total of 117 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
Also on Saturday, Emma-Jane Humphreys was the 22nd woman to finish the RunThrough Greenwich 10K, placing 112th overall (57:14). Yasmin Anderson was second in the W45 age-group and 154th overall (61:37).
