Rosenheim League
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in their Rosenheim League match at Tooting on Wednesday. Natalie Ballarin won the women’s discus (16:64) and placed second in the hammer (12.61). Team captain Phil Coales competed in five events, placing second in the men’s 400 metres (54.2). He was also fourth in the 800 metres (2:10.8), 1500 metres (4:46.6) and 3000 metres (10:10.9), and fifth in the discus (20.65). Angela Seesurrun placed second in the women’s 200 metres in a club W55 record of 35.3. Striders’ team of Sandra Francis, Angela Seesurrun, Sarah Allport and Lorraine Hunte placed third in the women’s 4 x 200m relay (3:06.7). Vanessa Wheeler was fourth in the 3000 metres (15:58.3), while there were fifth places for Lorraine Hunte in the 100 metres (17.4) and Sarah Allport in the 1500 metres (8:53.3). Both Striders’ men and women placed fifth out of the six clubs in the match.
Striders did well to have 15 finishers in the Elmbridge 10K on Sunday, which was the penultimate race in this year’s Surrey Road League. Niamh Vincent was the 25th woman to finish, placing 151st overall out of 526 finishers (41:55). Leonie Hondeborg was the 53rd woman to finish (45:45) with Alex Legge 81st (48:58) and Michelle Jardine 131st (55:17).
Striders’ men were led by Steve Corfield who placed fourth in the M55 age-group and 80th overall (38:54). Stephen Harris was 105th (39:57), Martin Filer 108th (40:02) and Nathan Davies completed the scoring team in 148th (41:54). He was followed by Tim Lawlor (42:23), Josef Freedman (42:47), Kechong Nguyen (45:31), Matthew Bollington (46:06), Peter Johnson (46:30), David Gunaratnam (54:34) and Stephen Tyler (85:32).
On Saturday morning, Striders totalled 90 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
