Rosenheim League
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in their first Rosenheim League match of the season, at Tooting. Their women placed third, while their men were fifth of the six clubs in the match.
For Striders’ women, Cindy Siu placed second in the 800 metres (2:58.5) and fourth in the 1500 metres (6:32.8). Sandra Francis placed second in the javelin (6.42) and fourth in the 100 metres (19.3). Angela Seesurrun was third in the 400 metres in a club W55 record of 84.2, and was also third in the 200 metres (36.8). Vanessa Wheeler was third in the 3000 metres (15:56.8).
For Striders’ men, Phil Coales placed second in the 800 metres (2:04.5) and fourth in the javelin (16.65). Nathan Robertshaw placed fourth in both the 200 metres (30.2) and the steeplechase (8:17.9), and fifth in the 100 metres (14.7). Marc Burrows was fourth in the 1500 metres (4:59.2) and 3000 metres (10:37.4). Rick Di Mascio was fourth in the 400 metres (90.5).
In the Veterans AC 5000 metre championships, also held at Tooting, Steve Corfield ran well to place third in the B race and second in the M60 age-group, recording a personal best 18:10.97. In the RunThrough Chase the Sun 10K at Battersea Park, Anna O’Sullivan was the 19th female finisher, recording a personal best 44:33.
On Saturday morning, Ellyw Evans was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 25th overall out of 249 finishers (22:12). Josef Freedman was first in the Duffins Trail parkrun in Canada (22:57). Striders had a total of 126 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Also on Saturday, James Rhodes placed third in an 800 metre race in Madrid (2:11.95).
