• London & Manchester Marathons

    Niamh Vincent, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to be the 64th woman to finish the Manchester Marathon on Sunday, recording a personal best 3:13:39. She was followed by Joseph Ibe (3:36:09), Rotimi Oyegunle (3:42:19), Maili Singh (4:21:48) and Arun Rajagopalan (4:40:34).

    Striders had 21 finishers in the TCS London Marathon. They were led by Andy Perks (3:03:37), who was followed by Graeme Drysdale (3:15:14). Striders’ leading woman was Charlotte Nusca who ran a personal best 3:24:42, lifting her to 17th place in Striders’ all-time women’s rankings. Martin Filer ran 3:30:24, while there were personal bests for Anna O’Sullivan (3:35:30) and Kara Boaks (3:38:45), who became the 30th female Strider to run a marathon in under 3:40. Striders’ other finishers included Erik Schrijnemaekers (3:40:45), Ellyw Evans (3:42:52), Karen McNulty (3:44:35), Nikki Javan (3:50:37), Consuelo Kennefick (3:51:49), Alexandra Legge (3:58:59), Anthony Young (4:04:48), Cindy Siu (4:28:37), Mark Long (4:38:49), Emma-Jane Humphreys (5:06:49), Marta Kiermacz-Abramek (5:12:36), Sarah Parnell (5:18:27), Arindom Bhattacharya (5:28:48), Nyla Ayub Chaudhri (6:19:03) and Theresa Staunton (6:53:19).

    In the Serpentine 5K road race on Friday, Steve Corfield ran well to place first in the M60 age-group, and 23rd overall out of 167 finishers (18:10). Stephen Harris was 44th (19:17) and Darren Woods 66th (20:38). Four days earlier, Steve Corfield had placed fifth in an 800 metres race at Lee Valley (2:20.08).

    In the East Surrey League’s annual road race at Ewell on Thursday, Simon McHardy was 35th (31:46), Jon Dean 37th (32:22) and Stephen Siu 44th (36:30).

    On Saturday, Striders had 115 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. There were first places for Marc Burrows at Roundshaw (18:02) and Phil Coales at Stroud (18:27). Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing ninth overall (20:31).
