British Masters Indoor Championships
Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to win the bronze medal in the M60 800 metres in the British Masters Indoor Championships at Lee Valley on Saturday. He recorded 2 minutes 21.56 seconds, finishing less than two-tenths of a second behind the silver medallist.
Earlier on Saturday, Erik Schrijnemaekers placed first out of 60 finishers at the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (20:34), while Daniel Finch placed first out of 50 finishers at the Squerryes Winery parkrun (20:52). Ally Whitlock was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing third overall out of 126 finishers (21:32), while Niamh Vincent was the second woman to finish, placing ninth overall (22:29). Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish the Vermuyden Way parkrun in North Lincolnshire, placing fourth overall out of 63 finishers (21:36). Cindy Siu was the first woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 26th overall out of 169 finishers (26:22). Phil Coales was second out of 446 finishers in the Hampstead Heath parkrun (18:39). Striders had a total of 109 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Tunbridge Wells Half-Marathon on Sunday, Arun Rajagopalan ran 1:57:23, while Grace Rehman ran 2:04:34. Earlier in the morning, Striders had two of the first three finishers at the Lloyd junior parkrun. Zoe Siu was the first female finisher, placing second overall out of 76 finishers (8:23), while club colleague Caleb Macenhill placed third (8:38).
