• British Masters Championships

    Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place second in the M60 800 metres in the British Masters Championships at Derby on Sunday. He finished in 2 minutes 20.78 seconds.

    On Saturday, Josef Freedman ran well to place eighth out of 187 finishers in the Bewl Water Half-Marathon (1:41:41), while Matthew Bollington was 39th (1:54:55). Earlier in the day, Striders did well to have the first four female finishers at the South Norwood parkrun. Niamh Vincent was 13th overall (21:36) with Leonie Hondeborg 35th (24:41), Angela Seesurrun 41st (25:18) and Ellyw Evans 45th (25:59) out of 164 finishers. Tatsuya Okamoto was first out of 36 finishers at the Momoi Harappa parkrun in Japan (17:59). Zoe Siu was the second female finisher at the Roundshaw parkrun, placing 25th overall out of 121 finishers (25:18). Marc Burrows was third out of 237 finishers at the Gunpowder parkrun near Waltham Abbey (17:53). Striders had a total of 107 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.

    On Wednesday evening, Peter Johnson placed 14th in the B race, and third in the M60 age-group, in the Veterans AC 10000 metre championships at Battersea Park (41:57.2). Club colleague Darren Woods was 18th (43:36.9). In the RunThrough Chase the Sun 10K at Hyde Park, Yasmin Anderson placed first in the W45 age-group and 169th overall out of 332 finishers (53:26).

    On Sunday morning, Caleb Macenhill was second out of 106 finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun (8:12). Zoe Siu was the first female finisher at the Wilsons School junior parkrun, placing second overall out of 77 finishers (8:14). Striders also had four finishers in the Copenhagen Half-Marathon, but unfortunately the results were not available at the time of writing.
