British Masters 5km road running championships
Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran well in the British Masters five-kilometre road running championships, at Battersea on Sunday. He placed ninth out of 33 competitors in the M60 age-group (18:19).
On Saturday morning, Lee Flanagan ran well to place first out of 135 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (20:00). Niamh Vincent ran very well to place first overall out of 58 finishers in the Newent parkrun in Gloucestershire (23:29), coming home ahead of all her male rivals. Striders had the first female finisher in four other parkruns. Becky Laurence was the first woman to finish the Swanley parkrun, placing sixth overall out of 47 finishers (24:33). Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish the Milton parkrun in Cambridgeshire, placing seventh overall out of 171 finishers (20:24). Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing tenth overall out of 91 finishers (24:02). Martha Taylor was the first woman to finish the Princes Park parkrun in Liverpool, placing 17th overall out of 554 finishers (19:44). Martin Filer was second in the Riddlesdown parkrun (20:53), while Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 31st overall (25:54). Nathan Robertshaw was third out of 370 finishers in the Crystal Palace parkrun (18:41). Erik Schrijnemaekers placed third out of 211 finishers in the Whitecliffe Lake parkrun in Ebbsfleet (19:34), coming home just three seconds ahead of former Olympic champion Kelly Holmes. Striders had a total of 101 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the RunThrough Chase the Moon 10K at Battersea on Wednesday, James Bennett placed second in the M40 age-group and 23rd overall (37:24).
On Sunday morning, Zoe Siu was the first female finisher in the Lloyd junior parkrun, placing fifth overall (9:14).
