• Brighton Marathon

    Striders of Croydon had 14 finishers in the Brighton Marathon on Sunday. They were led by Paul Thomas, who placed 194th out of more than 12,000 runners (2:59:00). He was followed by Liam Redmond, who placed 14th in the M45 age-group and 235th overall (3:00:53). Striders’ first female finisher was Alex Legge, who was the 354th woman to finish, placing 15th in the W50 age-group in a personal best 3:48:14. Darren Woods ran 3:49:18 and was followed by Gemma Halliday (3:56:34), Oliver Rossi (4:12:33), David Foster (4:15:22), Lee Roberts (4:16:19), Yasmin Anderson (4:18:25), Helen Moore (5:14:37), Elsa Santana (5:19:33), James Harrison (5:24:36), Kerry Kane (5:41:56) and Jeremy Tonkin (5:49:40).

    On Saturday, Debra Bourne placed eighth in the W50 age-group in the South Downs Way 50-mile race, from Worthing to Eastbourne (10:41:39).

    Earlier on Saturday, Striders had a total of 116 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Phil Coales placed first out of 518 finishers in the Mile End parkrun (17:24). Chris Porter placed first out of 147 finishers in the Brentwood parkrun (19:25). Nikki Javan was the second woman to finish the Shibamata Koen Kadan parkrun along the Edo River in Japan, placing 24th overall out of 65 finishers (24:18). Erik Schrijnemaekers placed third out of 87 finishers in the Sunny Hill parkrun in Hendon (20:15).

    On Sunday morning, Striders had the first two finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun, with Caleb Macenhill placing first out of 111 finishers (8:03) and Zoe Siu second (8:15). In the Thames Towpath 10-mile race, Tim Jones placed 26th in the M60 age-group and 187th overall (1:37:03). In the RunThrough Dulwich Park 10K, Steve Massey ran 45:28. In the Brighton 10K, Mark Stanford ran 54:08 while Amy Foster ran 58:45.
